Mr. Muhammad Kamal Khamis

Researcher

Mr. Khamis is the President of the Singapore Halal Culinary Federation and is Singapore’s first halal-toyyiban chef. He works with Singapore’s Health Promotion Board to create healthy eating lifestyles as a way to curb the rising incidence of diabetes amongst Singapore’s vulnerable and marginalized populations. Chef Kamal is also an educator and teaches healthy cooking to young Singaporean schoolchildren as well as to prison inmates so that the latter can be at the forefront of creating changes in eating patterns by joining the F&B industry and creating and selling healthier food when they are released from prison. Chef Kamal is one of the creators and author of the World Cuisine Halal Gourmet Cookbook series whose mission is to promote halal-toyyiban recipes and elevate halal food to the status of fine-dining cuisine. Chef Kamal works with several halal culinary federations around the world to promote a newer version of halal cuisine, a healthier, safer and hygienic version that aims to revolutionise halal cuisine and return it to its originally intended glory – a healthy, safe, socially and ecologically conscientious way of producing and consuming food.
